Elizabeth Turner is General Manager of a self-storage business.  Prior to entering the industry, Liz was general manager of Patsel’s Restaurant in Clarks Summit for 14 years and before that, a management accountant for the Military Family Institute of Marywood University in Scranton.  She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with a minor in Management from Marywood University and maintained the Dean’s List while attending college, working full time and raising a family.

Liz was hired by Olyphant Self Storage in 2014 to manage and improve their business.  In less than eight months she grew the business to 90% occupancy.  At that time, she knew the business was ready to expand and added 50 additional storage units along with outdoor parking spaces.  After adding those units, within six months she grew the business to 100% occupancy.  It was apparent the company would continue to grow to meet the demand for storage, but not at their current location.

In January 2016, Liz began searching for property.  In August 2016, the company purchased four acres on Rt. 247 in Peckville (formerly PJ’s Home Center).  Liz recognized the potential of the property to not only turn it into another storage facility, but to renovate the existing building into four retail/office spaces.  In March 2017 Olyphant Self Storage opened their sister facility, Peckville Self Storage.

Because of the high standards Liz brings to her locations, in 2016 the company received The Greater Carbondale Chamber of Commerce “Celebrating Progress” award.

Community involvement is important to Liz.  She is an active member of the Eynon-Archbald Lions Club and has been on many committees, one of which is their annual Snowflake Gala, which raises money for Leader Dogs for the Blind.  In May 2017 Liz received the “Leader Dogs for the Blind Founders Tribute” award for her participation in the planning of this event.

Liz holds a leadership position of Vice President of the Valley B2B referral networking group.  It is a group of local professionals committed to help grow one another’s business.  During her tenure with the Valley B2B, Liz co-founded “Networking for a Cause”.  An event hosted by the B2B group which raises money to benefit local non-profit organizations selected by the group.

Because of the appreciation Liz has for our military service men and women, Liz accepted a co-chair position in May 2016 for planning the 25th Anniversary Reunion for the Commanders of the USS Scranton, a Navy nuclear submarine commissioned for the city of Scranton.  She helped plan a four-day reunion and celebration in Scranton with local dignitaries honoring the Commanders.  As a thank you from the Commanders for her efforts, Liz was invited and toured the USS Scranton while it was docked in Groton, CT.

More recently, Liz submitted a photo of her and her staff in front of one of the business’s U-Haul vehicles to www.UHaulFamous.com.  In June 2017 Liz was notified that her photo was selected to be advertised on the sides of two U-Haul moving trucks.  The trucks are currently located in Kingston and Allentown, PA.

Liz is also a member of several networking groups, including Women To Women: T.H.R.I.V.E. and the NEPA Networkers.  She has also co-chaired events for the local chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.

Liz is always interested in getting involved with groups or organizations that help improve lives of people in her community.
